SMC STRENGTHENS TAIWANESE TIES

SMC welcomed delegates from the Taiwan Power Company (TPC) to their head office in Hunmanby, UK, last week.

The three delegates, who are spending time visiting sites across the UK in order to gather valuable insights into the offshore wind industry, held detailed discussions with SMC directors and senior management as TPC look to accelerate their activities in the Taiwanese offshore wind market.

Taiwan Power Company currently possess a 100% stake in the consented Changhua pilot project, located off the coast of Changhua County, Taiwan, and hold further interest in proposed projects throughout the region.

The Taiwanese government plan to produce 4GW of electricity through offshore wind by the year 2030 and SMC Managing Director, Ian Coates, had this to say on welcoming the TPC delegation, “The Taiwanese market is an area of great interest for SMC. As we look to expand our portfolio of work, we are open to engaging with emerging markets and the companies active within them. TPC and their commitment to renewable energy and high standards of HSE and quality are extremely encouraging. We will continue to maintain a dialogue with TPC and thank them for taking the time to visit us here in the UK”.
